5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how our website is used, such as the pages visitors view and how they arrived. We also use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook and Instagram), which uses cookies to record visits to our pages and whether a visitor submitted a free-trial request, so we can measure and improve our advertising. When you submit a form, the Meta cookie identifiers in your browser are included with your request so the visit can be matched to the ad that brought you to us. Section 6 explains what is shared with Meta and how to opt out.
Managing Cookies
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to refuse all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close your browser. Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our website. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, our website does not load the Meta Pixel.
6. Service Providers and Advertising Partners
We use trusted service providers to help operate our business, including customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, email delivery services, website hosting, and analytics tools. These providers process data only as directed by us and are contractually required to protect your information. They do not use your information for their own purposes.
Advertising Partners (Meta)
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram and use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API to measure which ads lead to free-trial requests and to show our ads to people likely to be interested in our programs. When you visit our website or submit a free-trial request, the following may be shared with Meta Platforms, Inc.:
- The pages you view and the fact that you submitted a request, along with the general program you chose (for example, “Adult jiu-jitsu” or “Kids jiu-jitsu”)
- Technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and Meta cookie identifiers
- A hashed (one-way encrypted) copy of your email address and, for adult programs only, your name
We do not share phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, text messaging consent, message contents, or a child’s name, age, or health information with Meta. Meta uses this information to match website activity to Meta accounts, measure and deliver ads, and improve its advertising services, as described in Meta’s Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of this sharing at any time: enable Global Privacy Control in your browser (we will not load the Meta Pixel or send your information to Meta), block cookies, adjust your Meta ad preferences, or contact us using the details in Section 13.
No Sale of Personal Information
Your personal information is never sold for money. We do not provide your information to other companies for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The limited sharing with Meta described above is used to measure and deliver our own advertising; some state privacy laws may treat it as “sharing” for targeted advertising, and you may opt out as described above. No mobile information, including phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, or text messaging consent, is ever made available to other organizations for marketing or promotional purposes.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Specifically:
- Lead inquiry data: Retained for up to 3 years from your last interaction, or until you request deletion.
- Active member data: Retained for the duration of your membership plus 3 years.
- SMS consent records: Retained for 10 years from the date of consent, as required by TCPA regulations and applicable state law.
- Website analytics data: Retained in accordance with the respective platform’s data retention policies.
8. Your Privacy Rights
a. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you may have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which it was collected, and the business purpose for collecting it.
- Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Right to Opt Out: Your personal information is never sold. You have the right to opt out of any data collection at any time by contacting us, including the sharing with Meta for advertising described in Section 6, which we also stop automatically when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@southtampajiujitsu.com or (813) 330-0591. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals and other universal opt-out preference signals transmitted by your browser as valid opt-out requests.
b. All Users
Regardless of your location, you may:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Opt out of text messages by replying STOP or contacting us
9. Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 online. Our youth programs (Tiny Ninjas, Kids, and Teens) require a parent or guardian to submit enrollment information on behalf of their child. For youth program requests, we share only the general program category and the hashed email address of the person who submitted the form with Meta, never a child’s name, age, or health information. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
10. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. External Links
Our website may contain links to external websites or services (such as social media platforms, map services, or payment processors). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with your personal information.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
